To A Friend

July 1, 2009 at 11:54 am, Category: My Life

I dedicate this post to my friend, Jamie Cockburn, who has sadly passed away after suffering from extremely fast acting leukemia. He continued to fight until the bitter end, surviving two leaks to the brain, nearly two weeks of chemotherapy twice a day and cardiac arrest. At 24, his life was stolen. The doctors decided it was best to switch off his life support as it was cruel to keep him suffering.

This poem is by Charlie Daniels…

A brief candle; both ends burning
An endless mile; a bus wheel turning
A friend to share the lonesome times
A handshake and a sip of wine
So say it loud and let it ring
We are all a part of everything
The future, present and the past
Fly on proud bird
You’re free at last.

I’m so sorry Kal, that is truly terrible news. Thoughts to you, Stephen, and all his friends and family. Big hug.

Thanks Amy, much appreciated. It makes you value every day and makes you want to spend more time with your friends and family.
