June 2008 Earnings

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on July 9, 2008 – 10:03 pm

I know it’s slightly late, I actually almost forgot to post my earnings until I was kindly reminded through multiple blog posts by other webmasters. As you know, I don’t really have any sites earning money except CoolNicknames.net and this blog as I sold my entire network recently.

A trickle of revenue came in from Media Jump and TTZ Media. Here’s a breakdown….

>> $42.71 : Media Jump (down from $119.30)

>> $0.15 : TTZ Media (down from $36.45)

>> Grand Total: $42.86

>> Daily Average : $1.38

A shocking month for TTZ, I think I’ll need to review the networks I have placed on this blog to earn more money, after all it is the website I update the most!

Moving forward, I have been ploughing money into a jobs network I am working on as part of the foundations for Bar Vacancy and I am considering placing advertising on their in addition to links and banners pointing to the site. My aim is to have multiple base sites in specific niches, for example “Bar Jobs in Edinburgh” with information and a link to the Bar Vacancy site for them to find a job or post for staff. I’ll let you know how I get on!

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

May 2008 Earnings

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on June 9, 2008 – 12:01 am

May was a fantastic month for earnings overall, but the majority of that was the sale of my tattoo network. Here’s a breakdown of the revenue achieved…

>> $12,000 : Sale of Tattoo Network

>> $119.30 : Media Jump (down from $163.22)

>> $37.45 : Value Click Media (down from $50.19)

>> $36.45 : TTZ Media (same)

>> $7.5 : Text Link Ads (same)

>> Grand Total: $12,200.70

An amazing month and I’m very proud, it’s a shame it won’t be like this next month! The revenue from ad networks dropped due to the ad codes being changed on all the tattoo sites in the middle of the month.

>> Daily Average : $393.57

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

April Earnings

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on May 9, 2008 – 4:00 pm

April was a good and bad month for me. Good because I managed to sell a site in 15 minutes and make $525, but bad because my network earnings were down with my main publisher partner, Media Jump. Here’s a breakdown of my income…

  • Site sale: $525
  • Media Jump: $163.22, down from $330.69
  • Value Click Media: $50.19, up from $13.37
  • TTZ Media: $36.45, up from $35.10
  • Text Link Ads: $7.50, same as last month.
  • Total: $782.36, up from $385.17

Media Jump was my biggest loss but my overall searches were up from 11,000 to 17,000 - higlighting they are just not paying as much per click. It is disappointing because I would have broken March’s earnings without the site sale if they had maintained the same pay per click.

Value Click was almost triple because I added two more banners and the network provided over 200,000 impressions in the month’s period. TTZ was up slightly, again due to more visitors, but their downtime over April has caused my earnings to be less than expected.

On a plus note, I doubled my income and can smile when I look back on my achievements.

  • New daily average: $25.23

How did you do last month?

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

Moving On

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on April 28, 2008 – 12:01 am

There comes a time when you have to let something go and move on, whether that be because your abilities are limited with what you have or to simply better yourself. For the past 8 months or so I’ve been working on a tattoo network, targetting a number of different keywords within the same niche but over a collection of sites to improve my overall reach. My hard work and dedication has resulted in me now owning 8 sites that generated over 150,000 unique visitors per month. As time progresses, I anticipate the network’s reach will exceed 200,000 and this will eventually settle somewhere below the 300,000 mark.

In my last post I mentioned how I earned $1,000 from over 42,000 clicks - it worked out at around $0.02 per click. I’m not complaining, but I have realised that I need to move on and out of the tattoo niche. My earnings are limited here and I need to expand outwith this category to avoid limiting my success as an Internet Entrepreneur.

question mark

I have been researching a little bit and found two niches I could enter. One fits in the same category as bodyart and would expand my network nicely sideways, the other is targetting specific cities and providing local information. Business wise, the bodyart network would receive more visitors and has less competition but the latter has more potential for higher paying keywords and private advertisers.

Unfortunately I have yet to secure any domain names therefore I cannot reveal my two choices entirely, but based on the above paragraph, which do you think I should move in to?

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

First Media Jump Payment

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on April 11, 2008 – 12:01 am

Years after receiving my first Google Adsense cheque (see first pic below), I received my first deposit from Media Jump, the company behind the text link ads across the majority of my sites.

my first google adsense cheque

I feel I have reached a milestone and I am now building on the strong foundations I have laid over the past 7 months. Yes I have seen thousands of dollars come and go with selling sites, but this is the first time in 2008 I have received a deposit for over £100.

Fingers cross it’s a sign of good things to come.

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

value click media earnings

Achieving my $10 goal

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on February 27, 2008 – 8:51 pm

On January 1st 2008, I blogged about my goals for the year. One of these was to earn a minimum of $10 per day online profit and I thought I’d dedicate this post to discuss how I’m well on my way to that figure.

My father recently told me “saving your first £1,000 is the hardest, but once you manage it you’ll find it easier to save your next £1,000 and you’ll never want your bank balance to go below £1k again“. I believe the same applies to making money online, infact doing anything that involves a challenge. Your first couple of steps are the hardest and you need to learn to walk before you can run.

My earnings with Media Jump’s quick links fluctuate daily and as they don’t have any sort of tracking or statistics, it is a bit of a guessing game finding out what works and what doesn’t. As you can see from the image below, my earnings up until the 23rd of this month are $120.65, which brings my daily average to $5.24.

february earnings

Two things I’ve realised is that 1) You should never rely on a single source of income, and 2) you should spread your risks. As a result, I’ve implemented TTZ Media across my biggest sites and spread my risks (income wise) over two companies instead of one.

TTZ provide much better stats similar to Google Adsense and pay a whopping $0.15 per click minimum! This is fantastic news to publishers who are looking to get paid a respectable amount for their efforts. Their fill rate is 100%, the ads are relevant to your keyword(s) and the ad formats are easily edited in their control panel.

I’m looking to manage a CTR of 2-4% which is a reasonable target and one that should turn my goal into an achievement.

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

Earnings Calculations

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on February 14, 2008 – 12:01 am

Lately I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about how I intend to earn enough online for it to become my full time job and main source of income. It has been something that I’ve calculated and re-calculated, considered and edited. I’ve amended it over and over until I had the right amount of sites with the right amount of traffic.

So far I’ve got 15 domains registered. Only a handful are fully developed into websites and even less require continual maintenace. If I break them down into categories and say 5 require a daily update (like a blog post) and get 2,000 uniques per day and 10 require little or no maintenance and get 1,000 uniques per day, I have come to the following conclusions…

5 sites x 2,000 unique visitors = 10,000 uniques overall.

5% of 10,000 = 500 clicks per day.

500 x 0.05 = $25 per day in revenue.

My 10 sites would generate the exact same, totalling $50.

Not a lot is it? Sadly, that’s how the projections are looking.

So I’m aiming for 30 sites by the end of April. Give or take a few dollars on each site and I could be earning $100 per day.

Are my calculations completely wrong? What do you think?

Christmas Eve Roundup

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on December 24, 2007 – 8:47 pm

This post is sponsored by windsorpalmsflorida.com - for all your Orlando vacation rental needs

Apologies for not blogging in a while, my cousin was slagging me saying I promised to blog 1-2 times per day then my next post was after a week! I do apologise, sometimes I am just far too busy to update this blog daily and besides, not everyday something new occurs.

Last week was pretty eventful though! I got a new phone due to my old one being faulty. It is a Sony Ericsson K850i with 5mp camera and partial touch screen. It is amazing what you can achieve when you take the time to complain about bad customer service.

sony ericsson k850i

I’m going to try video blogging with it, see how it works out. I’ve got my eye on a webcam but don’t want to purchase one unneccessarily if my phone will do the trick.

On the web front, I’ve been working hard and finished my latest project today! I’ll launch it just after Christmas and perhaps get some reviews completed. I was thinking of using Pay Per Post, has anyone had any success with using them to review a site? If so, leave a comment and let me know, thanks!

Kortaz and Off Beat Ink are both doing well, with featured links on Kortaz completely sold out until January and people waiting to order! I’ve decided to keep a spreadsheet of advertisers and their details to create a mailshot when links will become available.

Similarly, Off Beat Ink is getting between 500 - 1,000 uniques per day, which is a slight drop in traffic but I’ve not spent any money on advertising this month. The site is ranking in SERP’s so I’m hoping more organic traffic will come through soon. The site is averaging $1.5 - $2.0 per day which is money I never had before so I’m happy!

I’ll be posting my goals for 2008 shorlty, watch this space! Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.

Working Weekend

Written by Khalid Al-Khames on December 8, 2007 – 7:32 pm

This post is sponsored by thriftyscot.com - for all your refinance needs!

As the week drags along and you look forward to the weekend, most people think of relaxing, take it easy, chilling out. Me…I think of time to work on my sites. I’m sure this view is share by fellow webmasters who also have the unfortunate rat race lifestyle I do.

In a bid to keep myself going, I’ve been reading other blogs, watching inspiration youtube videos and thinking of how nice it would be to actually be out my overdraft for a change!

To make things worse, it started snowing here in Scotland today and I got caught in it…lovely eh?

Tonight I’ve got no plans so after eating dinner and tidying up I’ll continue what I started earlier. That consisted of updating OffBeatInk.com, driving traffic to the site, researching new ideas (I can’t help it!) and trying to sell the last few remaning links on Kortaz.com.

With just over 1k uniques per day and no money spent on advertising, OffBeatInk.com is making around the $2 mark. If I could double it by the end of this month and keep it consistant I’d be really pleased. However, waiting on the SERPS updating is a nightmare! Most of my traffic is from November’s exposure, fingers crossed that’ll continue and I’ll get a good search rank…double the traffic…double the earnings?

Good luck with your persuits,

Khalid.
